News of progress on a COVID-19 vaccine by U.S. biotech company Moderna has given markets some cheer overnight on Wall Street and in markets today. This chart takes a look at the stock performance year-to-date of the various pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the race to develop a vaccine. The selection is of companies across the globe that are directly or indirectly involved in vaccine development that has entered testing phases. Some eye-popping stuff here: NASDAQ-listed Novavax, for instance, has returned a staggering 2600%~ year-to-date.
